County and Municipal Buildings
Municipal and Non-Profit Solar Co-op
Cuyahoga County is pleased to announce our Local Government, Non-Profit, and School District Solar Program. The Solar Program is a County Cooperative Purchase Program where a Political Subdivision, Non-Profit, or School District may purchase equipment, materials, supplies or services on the same terms and conditions as the county with selected vendors who are awarded contracts with the county. This program allows for accessibility to pricing and third-party ownership not typically available to these solar projects.
The City of Lakewood recently passed legislation to install solar on four city buildings through this program, without any upfront costs. Through the Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA), Lakewood will install 691 kW systems for 10.8% of their energy use and save almost $600,000 over a 20-year period.
